WordPress maintenance: why updates aren’t optional
WordPress, themes and plugins receive updates for new features, but above all for security. A site that isn’t updated becomes an easier target, and fixing it after an attack always costs more than regular maintenance.
What maintenance covers
- Regular updates of WordPress, the theme and plugins, with a check that everything works.
- Automatic backups stored separately.
- Uptime and speed monitoring.
- Security checks and cleaning out unwanted users and comments.
Why not “just click update”
Sometimes updating a single plugin breaks the layout or a feature. That is why we check updates first, and there is always a backup from before the change.
Codema tip A backup you have never tried to restore isn’t a backup. We regularly check that the site really comes back up from a copy.
How much time it takes
For most websites, maintenance takes a few hours a month. Stores need a little more, because the checkout process is tested too. Our maintenance starts from 50 € and covers up to 2 started hours of work, so you don’t have to think about it.
