Card payments in a WooCommerce store: what you need from your bank
Card payments increase the number of completed purchases, but they need three parties to work together: you, the bank and us. Here is what the process usually looks like.
1. The agreement with the bank
Banks offer an online payment (e-commerce) service. The agreement usually requires company details, a description of your business and a website with clearly displayed terms of sale. That is why we create the legal pages at the start of the project.
2. What the website must have
- Terms of sale, shipping and returns.
- A privacy policy.
- The company’s contact details and tax number.
- Card logos and secure payment badges in the required places.
3. The technical integration
Once the bank issues the credentials, we connect the payment gateway to WooCommerce, first in a test environment. We check a successful payment, a declined card and an interrupted transaction.
Codema tip Start the conversation with your bank as soon as you decide to build a store. Approval can take longer than building the website itself.
4. Going live
After the bank’s approval we switch to live payments and make one real, small purchase to be sure that the money and the notifications arrive as they should.
